Hosea 4:6 Teaching Ministry

Hosea 4:6 Teaching Ministry was created to address the biblical illiteracy that exists in the Church. The large majority of Christians in our nation do not know the basic doctrines or the fundamental teachings of Christianity. Several recent polls indicate that a large percentage of Christians have a shallow knowledge of their own faith. In one poll, Agnostics and Atheists scored higher on religious knowledge than did Christians. This lack of knowledge on the part of Christians is the reason that many of them do not hold to a Christian worldview, but in fact hold to the secular worldview of the modern culture. The primary goal of this ministry is simply to persuade Christians to read and study their own scriptures. It also intends to teach the doctrines of the faith, as they are presented in the scriptures and have been taught by the Reformers of the church. In the time of the prophet Hosea, the Israelites had fallen into such a state of apostasy that they had little to no knowledge of God and they would suffer His wrath for it. “My people are destroyed for a lack of knowledge,” (Hosea 4:6). Like in the days of Hosea, Christians in current times have rejected the knowledge of their God. The Word of God is powerful and sufficient for proper conduct and thought, if only the people would read it.

Biography

I was brought to saving faith in Christ late in life when I was in my mid-40’s. I was a nominal Catholic who converted to Protestantism and began attending a large church with dozens of bible study groups. I was captivated by the teaching of biblical doctrine and was given an unquenchable thirst for the knowledge of the word of God. By the inspiration of the godly men who taught the bible study groups, I returned to school and obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Philosophy and Religion from the University of La Verne, while working full-time and attending school at night and on weekends. At this time I was approached by several of my peers with their questions on religion. It was during these discussions in answer to their questions that I found my passion, and a teaching ministry was born. However, I soon realized that there were questions that I could not answer and therefore needed more education. After retirement I attended Talbot School of Theology at Biola University and received a Master’s degree in Biblical and Theological studies. My joy is in advancing the Kingdom of God through a faithful teaching of the full council of God.
